Invite your students for the Student Research Conference 2013

Would you like to help your students to obtain more academic experience and help us to make this year’s Conference a great success? In that case we would like to ask you to guide your undergraduate and graduate student’s attention towards the Student Research Conference. Students can apply till July 8th.

The age-related schemes have been removed from the new Collective Labour Agreement that is due to take effect from 1 January.  There is a transitional arrangement in place for the Senior Staff Scheme.


Study plan for the second year

This summer, all first-year Leiden students will be formulating a study plan for their second year of study. The study plan is being introduced in order to encourage students to keep up their study tempo after the first year.


Keep computer criminals out!

Strangers have no business accessing your computer. Good security is therefore important. Leiden University is doing everything in its power to protect your work computer from intruders. But you can also take precautionary measures yourself!


Schools in Leiden open again

The schools in Leiden are open again on Tuesday 23 April. The directors of the schools reached this decision in discussion with the Mayor, the Public Prosecution Service and the police. 


Leiden's vision on education now in pocket form

Leiden University's vision on education that forms the basis for our teaching policies is now available in a pocket version: a small, handy, 10-page booklet, 10 x 15 cm, that contains the key points of our policies. The booklet is available in Dutch and English.


Audit Committee to visit five faculties

In March Leiden University will receive visits by the Audit Committee that is assessing the quality assurance system for teaching at Leiden University. The committee held discussions in January with University and Faculty Board members; the present round of discussions will be held with a number of different faculties and departments.


Call to lecturers and other staff who have contact with students

Now is the time that students can complete the National Student Enquiry (NSE). This survey is a valuable tool for the university because it provides an assessment of what students think about the content of their programme, the facilities and the city. Leiden University wants to impress on students the importance of completing the survey. Can you help?


Institutional quality assurance to be audited

On the 21st and 22nd of January, our university will be audited by the NVAO (Dutch/Flemish Accreditation Organisation) on the quality of our education. All Dutch universities are required by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to undergo such evaluation. The committee will hold an open consultation on January 22nd for anyone – students, lecturers or supporting staff – who has something to say wants to talk to the committee about our institutional quality assurance.


'Excellence through Diversity' Symposium 2 November 2012

On 2 November, the symposium ‘Excellence through Diversity’ is taking place. This is a university-wide event for administrators, professors, lecturers and supportive personnel at which we will discuss our contribution to the diversity of science, education and the University as an organisation.
