- Opening Service Centre for International Staff
- Increase in health insurance premiums at Zorg en Zekerheid
Internationalisation is key for Leiden University if we want to achieve our aim of the highest possible standards in our teaching and research. We aim to create and maintain an environment where staff from all countries and all cultures can feel at home. One of the ways we will be facilitating this process is by setting up a Service Centre for International Staff, which will open on 1 January 2017.
Service Centre for International Staff
International staff can contact the Service Centre with any questions they may have about living in the Netherlands, ranging from the immigration process and accommodation to social security and the Dutch education system. The centre will be organising a number of 'easy landing' sessions will be arranged in 2017 on such topics as Dutch language and culture. The partners of international members of staff are very welcome to attend these sessions.
The Service Centre will be located in the Oude UB, Rapenburg 70. You can drop by (no appointment needed) on working days between 8:30 and 12:30.
The official opening of the Service Centre for International Staff will take place on 19 January 2017. Visitors will be welcomed by Executive Board Member Willem te Beest, after which comedian Greg Shapiro, well-known from Boom Chicago, will share his American vision of some of our Dutch customs.
Zorg en Zekerheid will be raising the cost of the health premium for the basic Insurance, and for the supplementary insurance. The main reason is that the basic insurance will be expanded to include new medicines and treatments. In addition, the cost of some medicines has increased, including cancer medications. Zorg en Zekerheid's price increases are in line with those of other health insurers who have increased their premiums for the coming year.
Basic premium and collective discount
In 2017 you will continue to receive a discount of 10% on the basic insurance and 15% on the supplementary insurance. The discounts apply to you and to your immediate family. The basic premium for 2017 will be € 104.35. This sum already takes into account the collective discount.
